Living in Nezahualcóyotl

Nezahualcóyotl, or "Neza," is a densely populated municipality in eastern Mexico State, adjacent to Mexico City. It's known for its history of self-construction dating back to the 1940s and a multicultural environment with a strong working-class and commercial identity. Its lifestyle revolves around markets like the Neza Slaughterhouse, main avenues such as Pantitlán and Sor Juana, quick access to the Metro and Light Rail to the city center, and a diverse culinary scene with street food stalls, taco stands, and community centers. It's ideal for lower-middle-class families who value affordable housing and proximity to metropolitan employment.

The quality of life faces challenges such as a severe lack of green spaces (only 2.16 m² per inhabitant vs. the recommended 9-15 m²), high rates of moderate poverty (41.3%), and deficiencies in social security, healthcare, and food security, exacerbated by extreme urbanization and urban heat islands. However, 2025 brings a historic investment of 75 billion MXN in the east with a new IMSS hospital, vehicular bridges, hydraulic improvements and Safe Paths, along with the 2025-2027 Municipal Plan for economic hub and well-being, positioning Neza as a zone in transformation with affordable rents.
